Fixing a cluttered exterior can be expensive, but a complete overhaul isn’t necessary. The market is in your corner right now, but it’s still important to ensure that your house is in top shape to get the best price. With a relatively small investment, you can spruce up the curb appeal of your home and have it sold quickly for the right price.

Upgrade Your Front Door
Giving your front door a facelift can do wonders for the curb appeal of your home. A coat of paint of an exciting or nontraditional colour can make your home stand out, as well as elicit an emotional response from buyers. Colours like blues or purples are relaxing colours, which will give a calming effect to buyers, whereas colours like yellow or red are exciting colours which give positive feelings to potential buyers.

Also consider making your home look more modern by updating the numbers on your home. Swap out old and shiny numbers that are typical on every house and opt for numbers in different fonts, or something creative. Making this small upgrade might seem trivial, but you want your house to stick out.

A new coat of paint on lighting fixtures, or swapping them out if possible, will also bring new life to your porch and can make the home look great before buyers even walk in. Make sure that the porch has lots of lighting – even for daytime showings. If your porch is covered this is especially important, as you don’t want to give off the impression of a dark or dreary entry way. You want your home looking bright and inviting from the moment buyers step foot on your property.

Cover Up The Unappealing Spots
For a low cost, you can paint over unappealing electrical boxes on the side of your home to match the colour of your homes exterior, effectively camouflaging them. You can also use large planters of flowers, or a small fence, to hide your air conditioning unit out of sight.

These upgrades will make the exterior of your house look much cleaner, and less cluttered. Clean sight lines will make your yard look more appealing to buyers, and make your house look more approachable.
